My Approach

My Approach

I take a values and evidence-based approach to counselling. Here are the four pillars:

Collaborative and Relational

Therapy is a joint effort and something that happens inside a relationship. Therapist and client are a team and work together to bring curiosity, care, compassion and clarity to whatever challenges are facing the client. Relational safety is my top priority.

Inclusive and Respectful

All people are welcome, all problems are welcome and all parts of you are welcome. I don't turn people away based on identities they hold. Everyone deserves care. If we work together for a while and it feels like we're not a good fit, I will find another therapist who can work with you.

Trauma Informed

Research has shown that the experiences we have or don't have impact the way our brains and nervous systems develop. Our brains also never lose their ability to adapt and change, even into old age. It makes sense that we adapted to the experiences we had, and we can invite new adaptations when we know we are safe.

Somatic and Emotional

Inviting attention to physical sensations, emotions, and our inner, imaginative world can be a key ingredient to lasting change. When both body and mind are on the same page there is more inner peace and less stress and tension overall. Sometimes these aspects of our experience can be hard to access for good reasons, and learning how to touch in safely is something we can do together.

Do you have questions or want to see if we might be a good fit to work together? Feel free to reach out and book a free consultation.
